Wastewater
Greywater (Sink and Showers) - Administration and Council continue to find evidence that sink and shower water (usually referred to as greywater) is being disposed of on llawns and flowerbeds. The Alberta Private Sewage System Standard of Practice (SAP) is very clear that wastewater (which includes greywater) shall not bypass any treatment phase of the on-site wastewater treatment system and that greywater must be effectively managed and treated in accordance with the SAP and shall not be discharged to a location not consistent with the SAP. To do otherwise is an offense under the Safety Codes Act.
Home Security & Safety Seminar
All residents of the 7 Summer Villages are invited to attend a Home Security, Safety and Crime Prevention Seminar. The session will be held at the Ma-Me-O Beach Community Hall on September 4th, at 10:00 a.m.
Family and Community Support Services (F.C.S.S.)
F.C.S.S. now offers homemaking to the senior citizens, handicapped individuals or those in need of the special services a homemaker can offer. The homemaking duties may include: general homemaking, laundry, cleaning bathrooms and floors, dusting, vacuuming, fall & spring cleaning. The program allows clients to remain in the comfort of their own home. The time period of help can vary according to each situation of need. This service is provided at very reasonable rates. **Please contact Sharon Lock at 780 586-2523 (Thursdays).
Landfill Access Cards
Your Council and Administration have reached an agreement for Golden Days rate payers to take recyclable material (appliances, batteries, scrap metal, motor vehicle fluids, tires, propane bottles) to the Sunnybrook Transfer Station effective January 1, 2010. Access cards to the Sunnybrook Transfer are available for pickup from the Summer Villages Office (605 2nd Avenue, Ma-Me-O Beach). One card will be issued per household. Please note there is a $50.00 replacment fee for this card.
2010 Garbage Collection
Attached is the 2010 Garbage Collection Schedule for your convenience.
Lake Level Chart - Environment Canada maintains a hydrometric device at the Pigeon Lake Campground which measures the level of the lake's water and records the data on an interactive web chart. This chart is called "Real-Time Hydrometric Data" and may be accessed by going to http://scitech.pyr.ec.gc.ca/waterweb/formnav.asp . Click on "Real-Time Hydrometric Data", then key in "Alberta" in the blank box. Scroll down and select "Pigeon Lake", then click "Go To Station". Accept the disclaimer and a wonderful interactive graph appears. The recent rain/snow storm dramatically increased the level of the lake and the data is there to view.
